Dependency on init system

Postby dwiktor » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:42 pm

Will Yunit depend on systemd or it will work on system with any init system (e.g. OpenRC)?

Currently it still depends on upstart. I'm hoping to have it fully to systemd.

I'm certain some will hate this. Is an init system dependency really needed? If it does, could the services provided be abstracted and handled different based on init running?

Well... I guess systemd is the standard way nowadays

However I'm open to suggestions along with a proof of concept ;)

That's disappointing. I just tried to install it on Devuan Ascii (based on Debian Stretch) and noticed it won't install due to the hard dependency on systemd.

I would love to try it again sometime if that dependency gets removed.
